Falco 2 Fixed Gas Detector - Diffused
Fixed VOC Gas Detection
Ensuring that every aspect of the working environment is safe for staff to operate in is critical for industries that work with potentially harmful materials. It’s important that any kind of detection device can be relied upon even in the most challenging of weather, exposure, and temperatures, without losing accuracy. ION Science has developed the Falco 2 fixed gas detector to meet these challenges – and exceed them.
The standard Falco 2, both the Pumped and Diffused models are supplied with a 10.6 eV lamp allowing the fixed instrument to detect a wide range of VOC gases. The standard fixed gas detector has 4 detection ranges available, these ranges include 0 – 10 ppm, 0 – 50 ppm, 0 – 1000 ppm and 0 – 3000 ppm.
The fixed pumped and diffused models can also utilise a 10.0 eV lamp to further detect TACs (Total Aromatic Compounds), including benzene with a detection range of 0.50 ppm.
The Falco 2 Instrument is available as either a pumped and diffused model and currently has four detection ranges available to choose from, most suited to your application.
Do you need a Diffusion or Pumped Fixed Gas Monitor?
Gas detection tends to vary considerably from one application to the next. Gas detection monitors always have to be suited to the local environment. There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to gas monitoring and safety.
Diffusion Vs. Pumped Fixed Gas Detection
Diffusion Fixed Gas Detection Device
A diffusion gas detection device works, as the name suggests, on the diffusion principle. The sensor is exposed to the ambient air and will measure the gas by means of the diffusion principle. Diffusion means proportional spread of molecules over the available space (from high concentration to low concentration). This also means that a diffusion gas detection device is only able to measure the concentration of gases at the location where the device is located. Since there is no forced flow of the gas to be measured, this device is not suitable for taking measurements remotely, but they do accurately identify what’s present in a given location.
Pumped Fixed Gas Detection Device
Pumped instruments are equipped with a built-in sampling pump. This means that the device is constantly drawing in gases. A sampling hose may be connected to extend the reach. This means that you can take a measurement from a safe distance so you have an idea of which gases will be present in which concentration before you are exposed to this environment. This allows you to make an appropriate risk analysis and make the right strategy and PPE choices based on the measurement results. By positioning the measuring hose correctly, you can also make a correct measurement at different heights to chart all risks.
The original Falco was discontinued on the 1st of October 2024. Support and spares, will be available for the original Falco, until 2030.
